Travel Tips for Thailand – Summer 2025 Essentials
Thailand has always been an attractive destination, known for its vibrant culture, stunning beaches, and exciting activities. Here are some updates and suggestions for your upcoming trip to this beautiful country.
Visa & entry requirements
Starting in 2025, travelling to Thailand will be easier for citizens from 93 countries, including the UK, EU, US, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and most ASEAN nations, who can stay for up to 60 days without a visa (up from 30 days). Indian passport holders can visit without a visa until the end of 2025, staying for up to 30 days. They need a valid passport, proof of onwards travel, hotel bookings, and around 10,000 THB per person.
All travellers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online prior to arrival. Upon arrival, proof of accommodation, a return ticket, and financial means (10,000 THB per person or 20,000 THB per family) may be required.
Must-visit destinations in Thailand 2025
1. Bangkok
The capital city of Thailand, with a variety of experiences, has made it one of the most visited cities in the world in recent years. This city is the perfect mixture of traditional values and modern life, with a flexible lifestyle, which can be witnessed along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Thailand’s culture somehow gets along very well with the modern lifestyle, creating a unique culture for this city.
2. Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai
Chiang Mai has been named Asia’s Best City for 2025 by Travel+Leisure, making it a great choice for travellers wanting to explore Northern Thailand. Visitors can dive into the lively culture by visiting Wat Phra Doi Suthep, enjoy the beautiful views at Doi Inthanon, and have a nice time at the Khantoke Dinner Show.
Additionally, a highlight of the trip to Northern Thailand is Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle region. With the vibrant culture in the borderland, Chiang Rai offers a lot of experiences for tourists, from visiting the famous White Temple – Wat Rong Khun, and local temples and museums to exploring the border villages.
3. Phuket & Koh Samui
Phuket is one of the most exciting and varied places in Thailand. Located in the south, this large tropical island is famous for its stunning beaches and clear blue waters. Whether you want to relax at a fancy resort in Kamala or Kata Beach, enjoy the lively nightlife in Patong, or explore the quieter eastern coast, Phuket has something for everyone.
For travellers seeking a serene place to relax in nature, Koh Samui features tranquil beaches, stunning scenery, and a soothing sea. As the second largest island in Thailand, it maintains a slow pace of life, making it ideal for those looking to enjoy a peaceful holiday.
Tips and notes for travellers in Thailand
1. In general
Thailand in summer (June–August) brings tropical showers – short and refreshing rather than trip-ruining – so pack light, breathable clothes and a rain jacket. When visiting temples, remember to dress modestly: no shorts, sleeveless tops, or miniskirts. It’s also important to know that e-cigarettes and vaping are illegal in Thailand; possession can result in heavy fines or even jail time.
2. Tour price
Thailand tour price fluctuation during the year, with many festivals or special events in the country or specific destinations, there will be surcharges. Travel agents should advise their clients to book at their earliest convenience to have the best price.
